Countless urban legends exist, the majority of which are mere gossip. Yet, the tale of the peculiar wall is entirely true, as is the chance to amass wealth—should fortune favour you!
A Stand-Up Guy From the Skull Gang
Phil was an exemplary fellow, truly a commendable chap! Indeed, the Skull gang never admitted anyone else. He held a sterling reputation, as he was always ready to dive headfirst into any scuffle. Moreover, Phil possessed a sharp mind, which is why the police never managed to pin anything on him, despite his notable career in the world of street crime.
Naturally, the Skull gang was far from the only faction in town. The neighbouring areas had their own gangs, perpetually reaching out into each other’s territories. Take, for instance, the Savage Buffalo gang, that incessantly sought to cross paths with the Skull boys. Perhaps it was because they ruled in adjacent areas… or maybe it was simply their audacity. Nevertheless, Phil and his buddies were relentless in putting those blasted Buffalo scoundrels firmly in their place.
An Evening in the Bar
One fine day, our hero decided to take a walk around the neighbourhood. On the corner of Forty-Second Avenue, he stopped by a bar to enjoy a couple of drinks of something tasty and strong. Phil chatted with the barman, a longtime acquaintance of his.
His friend shared the latest news from the area. It seemed life was quietly going on as usual — the Skull Gang was experiencing a peaceful spell.
Phil left the bar, whistling his favourite tune, when he came across two members of the Savage Buffalo. Instead of their usual black shirts, they wore plain clothes to avoid being recognised. While it wasn’t a crime, they were spray-painting their gang’s graffiti on a building, which, let’s say, was looked after by the Skull gang!
Grabbing the Buffalo by the Horns
Phil gave both of them a thorough beating, letting them off with a stern warning that if he ever caught them spraying on his gang’s territory again, he’d shove those spray cans where the sun doesn’t shine. The pair hurriedly retreated, promising to return. Then again, the Savage Buffalo always acted like that. Sometimes they did come back with their crew to cause a ruckus, but Phil wasn’t the least bit fazed — it wasn’t his first time, after all.
They never managed to finish their graffiti. Phil covered the messy scrawl with a solid coat of paint and tossed the spray cans into the nearest bin. Afterwards, he felt like taking a walk around the neighbourhood to see if that useless bunch had left their mark anywhere else.
Nobody’s House
Just two blocks from his favourite bar, our hero came across a building that was completely free of graffiti. Phil decided to inspect the structure from every angle to confirm his suspicions.
City gangs marked shops, garages, clubs, and other establishments that generated income — their legitimate owners paid street thugs for protection against rival groups eager to profit at the expense of honest entrepreneurs. Graffiti also appeared on residential buildings, signalling to all whose territory it was. But this particular building was definitely nobody’s…
Money From Thin Air
As Phil examined the building, he walked into an alleyway and noticed a peculiar device embedded in the wall. The moment he touched it, the coloured symbols on the squares began to shift. Occasionally, they aligned into lines, and golden coins would fall onto the ground!
The greatest outpouring of coins came seemingly from nowhere whenever bombs appeared among the colourful squares. Tiny explosions echoed, the symbols changed even faster, multiplying in number, and coins poured down like rain from the sky!
This Calls for a Closer Investigation…
Throughout his life, Phil had seen thousands of walls, but never anything quite like this. He was utterly baffled by what was unfolding before him.
Perhaps you might succeed in unravelling the mystery behind this strange phenomenon? And as for all the coins cascading from the sky—you’re welcome to keep them!
