When there are many relatives to buy gifts for and no money, Christmas turns into a nightmare! But one day, Glen got lucky…
When You Want to Be an Orphan
Glen had a damn lot of relatives! Sometimes that’s good, but when it came time to give gifts, he wished there were fewer of them, especially during the Christmas holiday.
Glen had to spend a ton of money. That is not a problem if you earn well or at least like everyone else – then it does not hurt so much to part with your hard-earned cash! But Glen’s job could hardly be called lucrative. In general, his career just did not work out.
Having to Borrow for Gifts
And as if huge expenses were not enough, the boss gave him another “pleasant” surprise – the boss deprived him of his Christmas bonus for being late a couple of times and then fined him. In short, Glen had to take out a loan to buy gifts for his relatives. Not a very big one, but still not pleasant at all. Actually, nothing was pleasant.
The poor borrower sat at home, sadly staring at the TV. Of course, he wasn’t going to stay in debt. Glen planned to repay the loan relatively painlessly in two or three months, but the situation depressed him because every Christmas became a problem. Not much joy from a holiday that’s supposed to be joyful, honestly…
An Uninvited Guest in a Strange Outfit
Then, suddenly, there was a knock on the window. Glen saw behind the glass a bearded old man in a red suit resembling Santa’s clothes. He opened the door and asked what the uninvited guest wanted. The man asked to rest a little from the road. Glen agreed to do a good deed; why not…
Sitting by the fireplace, the old man asked the homeowner why he was sad and learned the story about the boss – a real jerk, a small salary, and many relatives, each of whom needed a gift. The guest listened to the sad story about the harsh truth of life. Promising to help Glen, he blew on the Christmas tree with all his might, and glowing sparkles settled on the green, fluffy branches, disappearing a moment later as if they were never there.
Those are Gifts!
Saying goodbye, the old man left the hospitable homeowner’s house. When Glen closed the door behind him, he noticed boxes tied with ribbons under the tree.
It was a sign to open them and see what was inside! The boxes contained all sorts of things that would be quite suitable as Christmas gifts.
Glen carried the boxes into the room. Returning, he again saw gifts under the tree. They immediately “moved” to the same boxes. And when Glen returned to the room, gifts were under the tree again…
A Happy Christmas
The boxes never ended. The homeowner ran back and forth, moving gifts, and every time new ones appeared under the tree.
Soon, Glen’s house had no empty space left – even the basement was stuffed with gifts to the very top! For the first time in many years, the owner of the magical tree felt the festive atmosphere of Christmas.
Gifts from the Heart
That very day, Glen gave gifts to all his relatives. Most of the boxes that appeared under the magical tree went to him.
Some contained quite valuable items, such as jewelry. Thanks to these gifts, the man who every Christmas regretted not being an orphan celebrated the bright holiday properly for the first time.
The Magic of the Christmas Tree Disappeared, but Who Knows…
Also, Glen was able to improve his situation thanks to many gifts. He bought a new house and found another job that paid almost twice as much as the old one.
Unfortunately, after the holidays, the tree shed its needles and lost its magical properties. But who knows, maybe that very guest will drop by Glen’s house again or visit you someday…
