Sage or Tyrant?
King Henry the Content ruled Wellilandia for many years. He was a wise ruler who earned the respect and love of his subjects, but not without quirks.
More than anything in the world, the sovereign loved clover. On the very first day of his reign, Henry the Content changed the coat of arms of Wellilandia and immediately earned a reputation as the first tyrant in the country. Fortunately, this was not entirely true – the ruler really was a very wise sovereign!
Kindness Is Fleeting…
Henry the Content established relations with neighbors diplomatically, thus avoiding at least two destructive wars. Then the king imprisoned bribe-takers, executed potential conspirators, and later created excellent conditions for peasants and craftsmen. In general, it is no surprise that every dog blessed Henry the Content.
But the king was not always kind! If any vassal withheld a duty or tried to outwit his ruler in some other way, he turned into a fierce beast. Henry the Content gathered an army, which he personally led, and went to visit the disobedient vassal.
No Jokes With the King
The castle of the noble fool who dared to deceive the ruler was captured. The vassal was executed in full view of everyone, and the rabble was scattered. The castle was leveled if it was not too large. On the site of the executed vassal’s residence, a field was sown with clover. There were three such places in Wellilandia.
When Henry the Content dealt with the first vassals, the others calmed down. But years passed, and a “smart aleck” appeared who lost the noble reverence that kept noble lords from rash actions.
And Again, a Madman Was Found
The ruler of Wellilandia again did not receive the duty that vassals were obliged to pay. The Duke of Bunterbid decided to keep the money for himself instead of giving it to the ruler, as the code of the law-abiding lord, developed by Henry the Content in the early years of his reign, required.
The king leveled the castle of the disobedient vassal. Then two more castles were destroyed—as if an epidemic of rebels had begun who imagined that the will of the ruler was not a command for them! When everything calmed down and even the wildest heads again felt reverence for Henry the Content, it was necessary to sow clover in three fields.
The Wonderful Spell
The king, having calculated how much time it would take and how many peasants would be needed, summoned the court magician. He ordered the wizard to invent a spell that would help quickly complete the work and speed up the growth of the “crops.” Henry the Content wanted the clover to turn green within a few days or even faster!
The wizard spent a whole week in the laboratory. On the eighth day, he presented the king with a spell that could turn even a desert into a clover thicket! And among the ordinary flowers, golden ones sometimes appeared—sparkling with precious stones.

Henry the Content adopted the new spell and ordered all unclaimed fields to be treated with it. He also sent palace lackeys there to collect golden and diamond clover. By the way, you can also try to find the lucky four-leaf clover worth millions, capable of turning a peasant into a noble lord!
