To Hell With Fishing

Benny has been harvesting crabs for many years! When it comes to this craft, no one understands it better than he does. He once tried fishing, but it proved unprofitable. On one occasion, he hooked a massive tuna, which to Benny seemed like the true king of the seas. That impressive catch inspired him greatly, yet that marked the pinnacle of Benny’s spectacular achievements.

Usually, he caught only small fry. Even crabs offered a far better return, so he decided to abandon all that fish nonsense!

How to Catch Crabs

Benny used a crab trap that resembled a simple net. He would attach bait to it, to which the hungry crabs would swarm, from every corner of the seabed.

Occasionally, Benny would sail to Albatross Island, where he could make a decent haul in the most essential sense of the word. The crabs would emerge onto the broad shore, taking a break from their harsh lives beneath the waves. Benny would then gather them as if picking apples fallen from a tree, carefully placing them into buckets.

Careful With the Dynamite

Crabs sold like hotcakes. Despite the simplicity of his work, Benny became quite a prosperous man! Yet, the sum resting quietly in his bank account was not sufficient for him; he longed for more, in order to indulge himself in all manner of luxuries. One fine day, Benny acquired some dynamite to stun crabs directly in the ocean.

At first, everything went smoothly: he tossed the explosives overboard, the catch floated to the surface, and all that remained was to collect it and enjoy life! However, after one blast, three divers surfaced, prompting Benny to reconsider his hunting methods.

Pretending as if nothing happened, our hero calmly returned home. Fortunately, the “victims” also came back unharmed—no one was killed. They all escaped with only a fright, save for one diver who suffered slight hearing loss in his right ear, though the doctor assured it was only temporary.

There’s no such thing as a free lunch

Benny purchased a special bait, hoping it would boost his catch without any efforts on his part. To his utter disappointment, no more crabs got caught than usual.

In short, the money was wasted, and the most delectable bait in the world had cost as if it had been forged from pure gold by some mythical dwarves dwelling in the remotest corners of the earth! In short, it was terribly frustrating…

A Clever Trap

Benny was undeterred. He decided to devise a trap that crabs would crawl into, drawn by the scent of bait. The idea seemed simple enough: leave the simple contraption on the shore, then come back and collect the catch!

Benny set the trap, rubbing his hands with anticipation. For a whole hour, he wandered around the island, giving the crabs ample time to fall into his invention. But, alas, when Benny returned, the trap was empty and the bait gone. It turned out the crabs were far cleverer than he had thought…

Help Benny!

Benny set about devising yet another trap, hoping to simplify his work to an extraordinary degree. He tried hard, but struggled to create exactly what he envisioned; his limited knowledge of mechanics, fishing, and engineering proved to be a significant obstacle. Nevertheless, the resourceful fisherman refuses to be discouraged!

At present, Benny is seeking someone to assist him in crafting a superb trap—naturally, for a reward. But you see, one cannot simply assemble a trap out of thin air; first, it is essential to understand the crabs, study their habits, and only then can the task truly begin. Perhaps you might succeed where he has yet to triumph!
