Life in a Cage
When she was very small, the monkey ended up in a zoo. For many years, she lived in a cage, entertaining people with funny faces and various antics that brought smiles. Sometimes, zoo visitors would feed her, giving her different treats. The monkey loved these goodies very much!
The food in the zoo was monotonous, though very filling. Bananas were given very rarely. Usually, the monkey received them from people, so she simply could not help but love those two-legged beings who willingly shared such a delicacy with her!
When the World Fell Apart
One fine day, a friend was placed in the monkey’s cage, who told her about where bananas come from – it turned out they just grow on trees! Can you imagine, she didn’t even know…
The Miserable Life in the Zoo
The monkey was caught when she was very young, so she had almost no memory of the jungle, except for vines and the abundance of greenery growing everywhere. But not bananas! That same day, the monkey wanted to escape back to the jungle. In fact, she had long been fed up with the lifestyle she was forced to lead in the zoo – all day the animals slept, ate, and reproduced, doing absolutely nothing. And at night, they were locked in cages.
In the morning, everyone was let out into the enclosure, and life continued. Many were quite satisfied with such an existence, but not our monkey, not at all! Now she dreamed of returning to the jungle, where bananas grow on trees and can be eaten as much as one wants, rather than waiting for people to bring treats…
Escape and Return Home
One day, the zookeepers at the zoo had quite a bit to drink. Being not entirely sober, they performed their duties in a haphazard manner, giving the monkey a chance to gain her freedom. The monkey escaped at the first opportunity. Once free, she immediately headed for the jungle.
Upon returning home, the monkey was given a cold reception. Her relatives did not want to know the monkey who, how to put it, was a little out of her mind; to put it simply, she had lost her marbles a bit! No wonder – years spent in a cage can make anyone eccentric. But those who had lived their whole lives in freedom could not understand this and did not show the proper tolerance for the quirks of their newly appeared relative.
Ups and Downs
Suddenly, it turned out that the monkey did not know how to climb trees, meaning that her genes were certainly at work, and she managed to clamber up a palm tree with some effort. But the banana hunter often fell down. Hitting the ground, she would loudly curse, surprising all the creatures unfortunate enough to be nearby with her colorful profanity.
One day, the crazy monkey heard from her relatives about a mysterious temple where one could pull a rope and receive a huge bunch of bananas. However, if the wrong one was chosen, the gods would severely punish the mistake by dropping an anvil right on the head of the one who wanted to get the sweet prize.
The monkey set off there, hoping to make the right choice. As soon as she pulled the rope, her hopes came crashing down along with the anvil, which turned out to be quite heavy. This is how the monkey finally became completely insane…
