The Story Behind Crystopia
Folk wisdom does not forbid casting pearls before swine for no reason. The sorceress Filianne made a big mistake when she rewarded her servants with diamonds…
Magnificent Topaz
Many years ago, far to the north in the kingdom of Sentinel, stood the ancient castle Vernel, where the sorceress Filianne lived. She spent all her free time practicing magic, trying to learn how to create precious stones. Oh, how valuable this skill would be in a world where one could fetch no less than a heavy purse filled with gold for an opal, emerald, or sapphire…
One day, Filianne’s spell worked! The sorceress managed to create a topaz the size of a noble lady’s fist. The stone sparkled and glittered in the sun, as if it contained the true power of fire or lightning!
Talkative Serfs
Delighted, Filianne began practicing magic even more diligently. Over time, she learned to create precious stones of various shapes, sizes, and shades.
The servants living in the castle Vernel each received a diamond as a reward for their loyalty. That was Filianne’s mistake…
How Much Truth Is in the Rumors
Throughout Sentinel, rumors slowly spread about the sorceress who had sold her soul to the devil. Evil tongues told everyone about the castle where diamonds lay scattered on the floor, and how pigs roaming the courtyard of Filianne’s abode trampled emeralds under their hooves.
In reality, the rumors spreading across the kingdom like a plague contained only a small grain of truth. Of course, the sorceress had not sold her soul to anyone! Only the smallest stones lay scattered in the castle corridors and courtyard. Still, even those were worth a fortune.
What Witches Feed Pigs
Filianne was not interested in trifles. She could create quite large jewels using magic – the main masterpiece in her collection was a ruby the size of a horse’s head. And many other crystals just a little smaller.
Meanwhile, rumors about the witch feeding pigs with diamonds reached King Ferdinand II. His Majesty sent scouts north to find out how true the rumors circulating throughout the kingdom were.
Rumors Do Not Lie
A couple of weeks later, Ferdinand II’s men returned. The scouts confirmed that there was more than enough truth in the rumors. However, the rabble living in Vernel fed the pigs swill, and the mistress turned out to be quite a kind woman who allowed tired travelers to stay in the guest pavilion.
In the castle courtyard, the scouts found small stones here and there, and even more in the halls and corridors. To prove their words, they presented two handfuls of shining emeralds, amethysts, and other stones that were worth a pretty penny even by the standards of the stingiest banker.
The King Wants Magic
Ferdinand II wished to take the sorceress’s spells from her and strictly forbid her from ever using them again. He gathered an army and set out with the firm intention of taking castle Vernel if its mistress refused to hand over the priceless knowledge.
When the small army stood before the ancient walls, Ferdinand II sent a messenger to Filianne, demanding the magical formulas. The messenger returned empty-handed, and the sorceress appeared before the king, stepping out onto the castle balcony. Filianne flatly refused to give His Majesty the priceless spells.
Take the Witch
The unprecedented audacity enraged the ruler of Sentinel! He ordered the castle to be taken, the sorceress captured, and the magical formulas delivered to him as soon as possible.
Filianne understood that her abode would not withstand the onslaught of a small army. She gathered all the power she possessed and used the crystals to increase her magical energy – with just one spell, Castle Vernel was transported to a secluded place.
Welcome to Crystopia
Now Filianne could calmly practice her jewelry magic. She renamed the castle Crystopia and conjured obedient elementals who perfectly replaced servants with long tongues.
Castle Crystopia is literally filled with precious stones. And finding it is easier than it seems – press the start button and take everything you find!
