A great costume for a good celebration

The Day of the Dead was approaching, traditionally celebrated on November 1st. Diego made himself an excellent costume! Of course, his sister Maria helped him because, as she said, her brother’s hands were “shaped” for holding a glass of tequila and were not suited for craftwork at all.

The year before last, Diego dressed up as a skeleton, last year as a zombie, and now he was inspired by the image of Dracula! The real macho man was going to flaunt his vampire costume, have fun, and seduce women. Naturally, he planned to spend some time with the lovely ladies after partying with his friends, which, however, should not go too far. There was one time when the whole company turned into a bunch of drunken monsters, falling asleep in a cart long before the end of the celebration.

A fateful meeting

And so, November 1st arrived. Diego dressed up in his vampire costume and set off in search of adventure. He hurried to the tavern of Pasos, who raised prices the least during the holidays – in other establishments, they went completely crazy, almost doubling the markup!

Diego never made it to that place. On his way, he met a beautiful girl who captured his heart at first sight. This girl stood out from the crowd of “dead” and other “monsters” by wearing very little makeup. And she also took a liking to Diego. That’s how the couple met.

She was simply stunning!

Diego’s new passion was named Anna. They spent the whole day enjoying the celebration and drinking wine at a nice establishment, which cost quite a bit, but a true macho man could not act otherwise. Diego genuinely believed that Anna was his destiny. However, late in the evening, she disappeared, promising to meet again “next time.”

Perhaps Anna meant another day, but the tongue tends to mix up words when there is plenty of alcohol in the blood – this applies to everyone, including beautiful women. Diego’s love mingled with the dissipating crowd and disappeared so quickly that he hardly had time to say goodbye and find out where she lived.

Goodbye, dear aunt…

The next day, our hero was no longer in the mood for high feelings – his aunt had passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack. It was time to grieve the heavy loss and see the deceased relative off to the realm of the dead.

The funeral took place a few days later. The priest successfully conducted the memorial service, the aunt was taken to the cemetery, and after a loud, pompous speech, she was lowered into the grave. Saying goodbye to his deceased aunt was so heavy that Diego even shed a tear as he watched the grave being filled with earth.

What a meeting!

He decided to take a walk in the cemetery to reflect in peace. Walking past the tombstones, Diego remembered his beloved, who looked at him from a faded photograph. According to the inscription on the grave, it was indeed her, although Anna had died around thirty years ago…

Diego had heard that on the Day of the Dead, the deceased come out to have fun, but he thought this was just a rumor not worth considering. It turned out that it was not quite so… now he was genuinely happy about the swift disappearance of the dead beauty! Otherwise, who knows, he might have dragged her to bed, and then he would have had a sad experience that could have ended in who knows what – maybe with a curse, like an allergy to tequila, or death in the arms of a being who decided to roam the earth on their rightful holiday.
