The Problems of the Fat Hippopotamus

More than anything in the world, Fatz loved food. In fact, he absolutely adored anything that could be stuffed into his mouth and happily chewed! Fatz had gained a reputation as a glutton even among hippos, which meant something. His love for food was evident in his size: sometimes the food lover would block a narrow river or occupy almost half a lake. Indeed, Fatz was a true behemoth!

The entire herd snickered at him, although they had no idea what a waist was or where the neck was located. Nevertheless, Fatz was considerably larger than his fellow kind, so they never missed a chance to tease their well-fed companion. Rumors circulated in the herd that the “fatty” was good for nothing…

I can do it all!

Fatz wanted to prove to everyone that they were mistaken. However, there was a grain of truth in those rumors – the enormous hippopotamus tried to find some field in which he could claim expertise, but his endeavors ended in utter failure. The only thing Fatz truly understood was food.

Our hero decided to open a café. He rented a building, bought equipment, and even hired a small staff, taking on the honorable role of head chef himself. You may wonder where a hippopotamus gets so much money? Well, there are plenty of wealthy drowned souls in rivers, ponds, and lakes! If you collect all the valuables they forgot to take out of their pockets before they drowned, you could get rich. Or at least, you could gather enough capital for a commercial project.

And then the King of Beasts Arrived

Initially, not many visitors came to the café, although Fatz and his subordinates cooked like culinary gods. But then, some unrecognized opinion leaders stopped by, and business began to thrive!

Actually, the first to arrive was a lion. The king of beasts didn’t want to wait around, so he ordered only a light snack – a huge ham on the bone. He devoured this delicacy in five minutes. After licking his lips, the lion let out a glorious belch in appreciation and then asked for the bill. The generous tip indicated that the visitor was satisfied.

Chimpanzee and Doe

Next, a monkey swung by the café. She ordered a banana salad, which was delivered within a minute. Fatz knew the preferred food of chimpanzees, so he forbade his staff from adding anything else besides the main ingredient. The monkey was pleased. She told her fellow chimpanzees about Fatz’s café and even wrote a glowing review on her blog.

Then a glamorous doe entered the establishment, wanting to indulge in grass in its own juice and a light cocktail. Her favorite treats were promptly brought to her. The doe ate the grass, drank the cocktail, and promised to tell her relatives about this excellent place to grab a bite.

The fame of Fatz’s café spread throughout the jungle, and soon a crocodile paid a visit. This guest was looking for something exotic, such as a dish of fresh blueberries. The crocodile devoured an entire plate and was pleased with the treat.
