Bad Friends, Who Should Have Been Avoided
Plavikus the shark fell in with a bad crowd, despite his mother’s warnings that such friends would inevitably lead to trouble. The desperate little fish constantly caused mischief, annoyingly troubling the residents of the underwater realm, who could not stand these rascals.
Truthfully, they weren’t doing anything excessively dangerous or punishable. But as Plavikus’s mother often said, all of this was only a matter of time.
Caught, the Little Thief!
One day, a wild thought crossed the minds of the desperate little fish—why not steal a pearl from the sea king? At night, the juvenile thieves swam to one of the caves where the ruler kept his countless treasures, hoping to sneak past the guards who were peacefully asleep. The foolish fish never considered that the most dangerous sentinels awaited them inside…
Most of the little thieves managed to escape, but not Plavikus. The shark was caught, imprisoned, and then tried. The chief prosecutor of the underwater kingdom sought a life sentence for the defendant, but the judge decided to show leniency towards the underage criminal, sentencing him to twenty years in prison.
When You’re No Longer Needed
Plavikus served his entire sentence from start to finish. Upon his release, he was a completely different fish, one accustomed to a different life, which made it difficult for him to connect with his fellow sharks. Civilized sharks preferred to live by the law and primarily attacked humans to avoid earning the unattractive reputation of bloody butchers.
Plavikus, however, was used to living according to the unwritten rules of the underwater prison. One fine morning, the inmate woke up to find that the school had drifted off into the unknown, leaving him alone with himself. The shark had no choice but to rebuild his life from scratch in a world where no one was particularly pleased to see a hardened criminal like him.
Turning to Dark Business
Plavikus tried to find his place among other schools, but they either politely asked him to leave or outright chased him away, ignoring basic courtesy. Eventually, the wanderer realized that living honestly was no longer an option…
Thus, Plavikus once again associated with fish engaged in dubious activities. He cast a line to see if there was any work available, offering himself as a predator living by the unwritten rules rather than the law.
A Job for a Killer
A couple of days later, a local businessman named Krabito, part of the Arthropod clan, approached Plavikus. This guy was involved in loan sharking. Typically, debtors would return pearls, gold, and other valuables to Krabito without causing any problems, but sometimes there were utterly unscrupulous individuals who thought they could simply abandon a generous creditor.
Plavikus was tasked with collecting debts or severely punishing the loan shark’s clients. Krabito believed that it was easiest to tear them apart or eat them in one bite—there could be no better fate for such individuals! Previously, he had worked with another shark until humans shot a harpoon straight into his belly. Krabito’s partner likely met his end on the deck of a ship and then might have ended up in the stomach of some wealthy lover of exotic fish.
A Bloodthirsty Shark on the Job
Plavikus agreed to work for the loan shark. He had been waiting for the opportunity to unleash his fury on all those petty wrongdoers, and if he could earn something from it, then all the better! Let’s see how he fares with this straightforward job…
