The Story Behind
Hooray, Earthlings have discovered another planet! Now Captain Stryker must explore plant G-44…
A New Planet in Deep Space
Captain Stryker led an expedition to planet G-44, which was discovered just a week ago. The brave officer barely had time to assemble a squad of reliable people to go to the far reaches of space.
Very little was known about planet G-44, and the data that the command team provided to Stryker consisted only of satellite photos and videos. But one thing is certain – its surface has its own flora and fauna. The living world on G-44 is very similar to Earth’s nature…
Analogue of DS-12
Well, partly. After all, Earth does not have huge three-horned creatures resembling dinosaurs. Luckily, we don’t have those. Also, Earth does not have giant birds, winged lizards, toothy predators the size of houses, and other creatures that would be better off not existing on G-44 either.
One thing the Control Center knew for sure: there are deposits of a special material resembling Earth’s DS-12 in appearance and structure. This chemical compound, synthesized back in 2145, allowed turning any objects into precious stones by altering their structure. Outwardly, they looked like the originals, but metal, wood, or any other material was transformed beyond recognition by DS-12. Such “jewelry” was worth millions!
How Expensive it is…
Unfortunately, synthesizing DS-12 turned out to be a very costly process. Besides the unique equipment needed to carry out the reaction, a huge amount of various resources was also required. Naturally, the production of DS-12 could not be established even for the first planet’s rich people, because it doesn’t matter how much you have – resources can’t be made out of thin air, whether you’re a Swiss millionaire or an unfortunate person born in Indian slums.
A Peace-Loving Man Versus Hostile Fauna
Captain Stryker had to find out what kind of material was found on G-44. The squad of Earth’s envoys planning to colonize another planet was heavily armed. Most likely, the beasts living on G-44’s surface would not be afraid of two-legged human guests.
Moreover, local predators would probably be so hostile to humans that they might want to turn them into breakfast. Or maybe lunch or dinner, though that wouldn’t matter much!
Landing on G-44
The flight at faster-than-light speed took just over a day. The Earthlings’ ship safely landed on planet G-44. Stryker immediately issued an order to take care of the defenses, and his soldiers set up a power energy barrier to protect the perimeter.
The fighters did this just in time – soon predators the size of large dogs tried to attack the ship. It might not seem like a threat that calls for shouting “Every man for himself!”, but a whole pack of these creatures appeared…
Amazing Properties of “Frutopia”
In fact, Stryker and his team had to shoot a lot with laser rifles before they reached the location of the supposed DS-12 analogue deposits. The soldiers took a sample and hurried back to the ship. However, the scientists, who were also part of the expedition, needed a couple more hours to collect other materials for research. Only then did the crew fly back to Earth.
Later, scientists tested the material, which turned out to be a perfect substitute for synthetic DS-12. However, there is one significant “but”: the analogue allows turning only fruits, bells, and other items whose quantities are quite limited into precious stones. The transformation device was named “Frutopia.” You can see how it works yourself by launching the experimental apparatus.
