Lord of the Seas Plot

The Story Behind

Ah, how wonderful it is to be a pirate! Easy money, romance, the sea, and the various delights found in port, all purchasable with gold… Play right now, and may the winds be at your back!

Lord of the Seven Seas

Captain John Redbeard became the true scourge of the seven seas! His crew plundered merchant vessels and occasionally attacked smaller warships.

After capturing yet another frigate, John Redbeard acquired a remarkable cannon capable of sinking any civilian ship. That’s when the fun truly began! An entire army hunted the pirate, but that didn’t stop him from becoming the Lord of the Seas—John proudly bore the title bestowed upon him in secret by enemies and pirates who dreamed of even a fraction of the glory of the master of the seas.

The Curio Shop

One day, John Redbeard docked at Tortuga to properly rest after a long voyage and indulge with his crew. While wandering through the city, the captain stopped by a merchant’s shop, intending to buy some tobacco for his beloved pipe, which he never parted with. It is said he even slept with it, never worrying that he might set both his cabin and ship ablaze! The sea god knows, other pirates warned him numerous times, but John Redbeard couldn’t have cared less about their words…

The Lord of the Seas purchased a sack of tobacco and a map hanging on the wall—the shopkeeper was asking only ten pieces of eight for it! It seemed no one would understand it except for an experienced pirate who had downed no fewer than two bottles of rum in his hold.

Course to Turtle Island!

And so, the rest at Tortuga came to an end. John Redbeard set sail once again, ready to kill, plunder, and dishonor respectable women who had the misfortune of finding themselves aboard a captured ship.

At least, that’s what the crew thought! How surprised they were when the captain gathered everyone on deck one fine morning and declared that the ship was now heading for Turtle Island…

Full Steam Ahead!

John Redbeard deciphered the map—it took him about a week and one entire barrel of rum, which he drank single-handedly. The bosun even feared that a blue seagull might fly to the captain, just like last time, when he burst from his cabin, cursing loudly and firing cannons at a sea devil that wasn’t even present. Fortunately, no one was harmed, except for a couple of sharks that floated belly-up.

The captain set the course and occasionally took the helm himself. Three days later, the ship dropped anchor not far from Turtle Island. John Redbeard ordered the launch of a lifeboat. He brought along the bosun, the first mate, and three braver lads.

The Dark Cave

The island appeared uninhabited—the captain and his men found no trace of human presence. The area was lush with vegetation, birds nested in the trees, and deer scampered about, with no signs that a human foot had ever tread here.

However, according to the map, a pirate had once landed here, leaving behind a treasure in a cave. John Redbeard easily found the grotto where a chest had been buried for a couple of centuries, waiting for its moment.

The Sea Devil, a Thousand Demons, and a Curse

When they unearthed the treasure, the pirates opened the wrought-iron lid and unleashed an ancient curse! A malevolent spirit turned three brave lads into mere piles of ash and transformed the first mate into a living skeleton. The captain and the bosun were immensely fortunate—the curse’s power was not enough to claim all the sea wolves who had come for the golden loot.

John Redbeard ordered the chest to be taken back to the ship. Of course, he didn’t abandon the first mate! The captain allowed him to continue serving on the vessel. At first, the others could not get used to the presence of a real skeleton fighting alongside them, but what could they do—try speaking against John Redbeard and you’d quickly find yourself feeding the fishes!

By the way, there are now three available positions on the Lord of the Seas’ crew. If you dream of becoming a sea wolf and filling your pockets with stolen gold, set sail right now!
