Mummy’s Treasure
Throughout all of his life, Pharaoh Miramis II loved nothing but gold and diamonds. Now he shall guard his treasures for all of eternity.
Pharaoh Who Fleeced Everyone
Pharaoh Miramis II went mad with greed. The ruler of Egypt crammed his treasury by raising taxes imposed both on nobility and on the poor, who could barely make ends meet. When craftsmen and peasants could give no more, the pharaoh turned to the nobles, ordering them to pay a new tax in precious stones.
The nobility had no choice but to grind their teeth in rage. They had to do so quietly, so as not to provoke the pharaoh’s displeasure, for Lord Miramis II would execute the rebellious nobility with ease.
Pure Madness
A couple of years later, the ruler was quite literally sleeping on diamonds. By then he had gone completely mad and banned anyone, even his wife, from entering his bedchamber. The pharaoh now shared his bed with precious stones rather than with the queen, who was deeply displeased by this turn of events yet stubbornly pretended that everything was perfectly fine, seeing how her deranged husband might execute her as well if given a reason.
Waking up one fine day, Miramis II decided that the time had come to squeeze the nobility for even more taxes and force all those lords to bring a diamond to the treasury every week. By issuing such a decree, he signed not only the papyrus, on which the order was written, but also his own death sentence. The resentment of the nobility had been growing for a long time; all that remained was to add the final drop to the cup of patience of the nobles who dreamed of ridding themselves of the greedy tyrant.
The Funeral of Egypt’s Biggest Cormorant
The pharaoh’s foremost advisers decided to conspire against him. The nobles found skilled assassins who gladly agreed to rid Egypt of the scourge that sat upon the throne. Miramis II was promptly sent to the world of the dead with a precise dagger strike straight to the heart.
The time had come to bury the now departed pharaoh. The rulers of Egypt ended their earthly path in a pyramid, and Miramis II was no exception, though many subjects dreamed of simply burying him in the desert and forgetting him like a terrible dream. Along with the deceased ruler, the priests, the concubines, the queen, and the treasures were to be sent to the world of the dead.
Pharaoh, Go to Hell!
The pyramid of Miramis II was literally bursting with treasures. The concubines and the queen had to be released so that the entrance to the tomb could be sealed. The sorcerers sealed it with special magic and wished the pharaoh all the best.
Meanwhile, Miramis II woke up as a mummy. It appears he was not permitted to enter the realm of the dead. The gods of the underworld deemed the pharaoh disgustingly greedy and ordered the sorry bastard to get the hell out.
Treasures Await the Adventurers
For centuries, the mummy of the Egyptian pharaoh wandered through the winding labyrinth of his own pyramid, trying to distract himself from sorrowful thoughts. Though, for the first five hundred years he did nothing but sift through the treasures buried with him. The dried remains in which the soul of Miramis II still resided would have been glad to become even wealthier, yet how could it be done now? No subject would obey his decrees any longer, and they were nowhere to be found – servants, advisers, warriors… unfortunately, all of that had been left in the life long past.
Centuries went by, and the magic that guarded the entrance to the tomb of Miramis II had vanished. Now anyone seeking the pharaoh’s wealth may enter. You too may peer inside in hopes of easy profit, but be cautious – the mummy is still there, and who knows how it may react.
