Ragnarok 40k Plot

Miltur had quite a bit to drink! Just enough to delay the end of the world by forty thousand years…

Endless Night

Miltur was a true Viking, he loved beautiful women, wars, and mead above all else. One evening, he was enjoying a strong drink and spending his last gold at the tavern. The valiant warrior planned to head home in the morning, as usual. But for some reason, this night just wouldn’t end—it seemed insanely long!

Finally, the innkeeper announced to all of the guests that they must settle their tabs if they wished to continue the revelry, as morning hadn’t come for nearly a week! Hearing this, even the most hardened drunkards quickly sobered up.

To Rot in Jail or Become a Hero

During the week spent in the tavern, Miltur drank so much mead that it was enough to drive anyone mad! He couldn’t pay for the emptied barrels even if he wanted to. The innkeeper ended up calling the guards, who took Miltur to the city jail. The law was still the law, despite the strange disappearance of the sun, which had vanished to who knows where—the poor Viking was destined to languish in the dungeons until a kind soul came along willing to pay his debt to the tavern owner.

A week later, the chief warden of the city jail visited Miltur in his cell. He offered the unfortunate man two options: rot in jail waiting for that generous soul with a bag of gold, or go to the palace of the city governor and fulfill a small request. The Viking decided to be proactive instead of waiting for a miracle to happen, and so he was escorted to speak with the ruler.

The End of the World Can Wait…

The governor personally met Miltur and offered him the chance to become a hero that would stop Ragnarok! While the Vikings drank, fought, and simply enjoyed life, the time for the end of the world had come, during which all living things would perish, and then the gods would rebuild the world anew.

Fortunately, the court rune master had unearthed a ritual from his archive of magical books that could delay Ragnarok by forty thousand years. All that was needed was to journey to the Storm Valley and make sacrifices at the ancient gods’ first altars. As soon as Odin and the other Aesir heard the plea, runes would light up on the great stone nearby—this would be a sign that the world’s destruction had been postponed for forty millennia!

Time to Set Off

Miltur seized the opportunity that fate had given him. Nodding, he agreed to become the savior of the world and set off after a conversation with the court wizard, a master of rune magic, who explained how to perform the ritual.

The journey to Storm Valley was not short, and many dangers awaited the traveler! The first of these he had encountered as soon as the city towers disappeared behind icy snowdrifts—he was attacked by wild bandits who wielded huge clubs! The brave warrior easily sent the savages to hell without receiving a scratch.

The Sacred Storm Valley

Later, Miltur battled an ice dragon, a magical bear, and other monsters. These were truly epic battles that should certainly become legends after Ragnarok is postponed!

And so Miltur arrived in Storm Valley, illuminated by lightning, while the rest of the world had already plunged into darkness. He found the altars and captured wild beasts, tore out their hearts, and offered them to the gods. Then the Viking recited the incantation taught to him by the rune master—all that was left was to wait for the inscriptions on the magical stone to light up…
